About the Book
My photobook has been uploaded in three formats: Medium, Large and Large Image Wrap. To get a wide range of land use I wanted to photograph Sheffield evenly. The best way to do this was by photographing in every square of a grid on a map. I chose to cover three square miles from the centre of Sheffield and entirely explored this area by foot. My work is a celebration of the distinctive architecture, the abundance of green space and the relative calm of Sheffield, but I also wanted to look at the shifting of land use from industrial to commercial, urban decay, as well as the visual effect of high density housing. To make the images stand out further, even when taken in well known locations, I felt it important to photograph at night, use imposing perspective and to capture oddities. The sections of the book are: negative space, churches, commercial, residential, industrial and urban decay. I think that the subject matter of the book will appeal to anyone with an appreciation or knowledge of the region, but also more widely as the book captures a lot of beautiful areas and looks a lot futher than the surface appearance with over 60 photographs.
