About the Book
The Columbia Slough watershed in Portland, Oregon is 6 lakes, 3 ponds, and 50 total miles of waterways. Tucked within is the largest urban wetland in the United States. The Slough is home to 4,200 businesses, 175 bird species and 26 fish species. It is contradiction and contrast. The workers hide among the tangled growth, foggy air and beneath the omnipresent airplanes. Portland-based photographer Benny Wizansky has been making images there for some time and this is a work in progress.
