Extreme Green: Up Close and Personal is a photographic collection of images illustrating the colourful, and sometimes alien‑looking, marine life that thrives in British Columbia’s emerald green waters.

John Rix, photographer, presents an intimate perspective of the underwater creatures vibrant colours, fascinating textures and patterns that make up their camouflage, sometimes revealing themselves only when they move.

Born and living in Vancouver, British Columbia, John Rix, a photographer and 3D computer artist, has been diving BC’s waters for more than 25 years, and began focusing his eye on the underwater world more than a decade ago. After working on the documentary Extreme Green with Cheryl Smith, his fascination and passion to capture the colors, textures and patterns of the marine life continued to grow and has resulted in this first publication of underwater images.
