About the Book
The poems which form T S Eliot's Four Quartets, one of the supreme literary achievements of the twentieth century, take their title and inspiration from four places, each of which had a special significance for the poet. Nearly seventy years after the poems were published, those places, whose remembered landscapes are so vividly evoked in his verse, remain largely as Eliot would have found them. Nigel Ready has sought, through photographs linked to the text of each poem, to record as faithfully as possible the genus loci which Eliot experienced.
