About the Book
Kathryn Compton and Sandra Thurman work closely with World Vision; a relief organization working with communities to overcome poverty, and The Office of National AIDS Trust; which works closely with community-based organizations to discuss the response to the AIDS epidemic.
About the Creator
Leah Missbach Day is a Chicago native. One of the founders of World Bicycle Relief, Missbach Day helped launch the program in the wake of the 2004 Tsunami. Since then World Bicycle Relief, has provided over 40,000 bicycles in Sri Lanka and various Sub-Saharan African countries to people in need of rebuilding their livelihoods, combating disease or gaining an education. She is their primary photographer. Her images portray a world in which poverty and disease are being combated through hope for a brighter future, facilitated by mobility of a bicycle. When not in the field Missbach Day works with World Bicycle Relief’s marketing and development efforts and stands on the boards of ecoAmerica and Chikumbuso.
