About the Book
Inuit and First Nations Elders try DJ scratching in Canada's north. These photos are taken of the wonderful spirits of Elders in Canada's Arctic and First Nations communities. BluePrintForLife.ca has completed 75 week long healing workshops in remote communities. Celebrating traditional culture and HipHop, blended together to create passionate exciting spaces for youth to grow in confidence and heal in their lives. With the lasting effects of residential schools many generations do not communicate as much as their hearts would like to . Elders trying something new like DJ scratching and working the MPC is not the world they come from, but they are willing to share a human moment of laughter and community with their grandchildren because they understand that the bonds and connections of family are at the center of healing. We are honored to meet these Elders and share in these moments in their communities. We hope we have captured some of the essence of celebration we experienced and we are happy to share these moments with you. Enjoy !
