About the Book
The rugged and spectacular Greek Islands of Corfu, Mykonos and Santorini were next on the itinerary, as was the bay of Naples, with memorable excursions to the dramatic Amalfi Coast and the fascinating archeological site of Pompeii.
Our last port of call, prior to arriving in Civitavecchia (Rome), was the mountainous French island of Corsica which included a hair-raising drive through the Prunelli Gorges. After a brief trip to the beautiful old town of Nuremberg, Germany, to visit a friend, I took a Trafalgar tour to North Italy, where the highlight was undoubtedly the lake district, nestling in the foothills of the Swiss Alps.

About the Creator
I was born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. My family moved to Cape Town where I completed my schooling. I later obtained a Bachelor's degree at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, with majors in Industrial Psychology and Linguistics. Other than a 5-year transfer to Johannesburg fairly early in my career, I have lived most of my life at the tip of the African continent, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful locations globally. In fact, when rounding the Cape during the latter part of the 16th Century, the intrepid explorer Sir Francis Drake named it the "fairest Cape in all the world". I retired from formal employment in September 2011, after a 36-year career with a national retail chain, where I specialised in management and leadership development. My passion for international travel, as well as my love of computing and digital photography, encourage me to record and document my experiences. I sincerely hope that my work will inspire others in a similar vein.
