About the Book
This edition presents the 12 photograph-as-object pieces of the series "Expended (and Sampled)" by Eric Roman Beining, including detail images and the artist statement for the work. An extract from the statement, as featured on the back cover:
Spit, sweat, and ejaculate: these are generally considered undesirable to share outside of an intimate relationship. The tragic images stored in the vitrines of Expended (and Sampled) emphasize texture and color, offering overly aestheticized abject fluids. The formal choices in the work come directly from a need to contain and organize as a coping mechanism. The images present evidence of hanging on and letting go, both invoking and challenging the preservation and re-imaging of our personal histories.
