About the Book
The story of the ship that carried thousands of troops, Americans, Canadians and others off to fight in World War Two. She also carried war brides back to North America and German prisoners of war to the U.S. After WW2 the Pasteur transported French soldiers to fight in Viet Nam. After her war duties she began her civilian life as the German ship "Bremen", making numerous North Atlantic crossings. Renamed the "Regina Magna" she became a Caribbean cruise ship then ended her service life as a barracks ship in the Middle East. After 41 years of carrying thousands of passengers safely across international waters she sank at sea in the Indian Ocean- too proud to go to the breakers.
