About the Creator
Bob Herbst has been photographing and printing in platinum/palladium and silver gelatin since 1970. He has achieved international recognition as a master printer. Bob's work can be found in the permanent collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Progressive Insurance Corporation, The Orkney Museum in Kirkwall, Scotland, and Washington National Cathedral. In the early 2000's Bob pioneered the use of a UV densitometer to calibrate ink jet printers for making digital negatives for alternative photographic processes such as platinum/palladium, Van Dyke brown, and cyanotype printing. This work was published and later presented at the Alternative Photography International Symposium (APIS) in Santa Fe in 2001 and 2005. His extensive knowledge and expertise resulted in an invitation to write an appendix for the comprehensive book on the platinum/palladium printing process, Platinum and Palladium Printing, by Dick Arentz, 2005.
