Three Sisters and a Funeral

By A.J. Russo   Russo   View All Books

Category: Literature & Fiction

As a young man growing up in an Italian-American family in New York, Johnny experienced a life that was both eccentric and filled with love. Both of his parents were in the music industry, playing and singing with big bands and doing well.

Although unaware while growing up, organized crime pervaded the music industry and his life. Later he found there was more of a connection than he first realized.

This anthology of related short stories is fictitious and, in a humorous, unusual way, depicts the life of a young Italian man who grows questioning his participation in war, love and family.

Three Sisters and a Funeral captures the eloquence, character development and vernacular of an Italian family similar to the way Alice McDermott’s Charming Billy and Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes capture the insights of Irish-Americans.

4 STARS!

…. this novel is very entertaining! The author even wrote in the NY accent. I especially enjoyed the stories from Sicily in the early 1900's. Recommended reading. Detra Fitch, HUNTRESS REVIEWS
