Calcite Clams of Florida contains 149 images ( 17 full page! ) of the incredible fossils that can be found in a rock quarry north of lake okeechobee in Florida known as Ruck's Pit or the Fort Drum Crystal Mine. Twenty rare and beautiful fossilized clam specimens with flawless Calcite crystals inside are featured along with many other beautifully examples of these amazing natural fossil/mineral creations. This is the only known location in the world where Calcite crystals of this size and quality grow inside fossil clams - some crystals exceed one inch in length!

Also included inside are pictures of rare fossilized shells, unusual landscape shots, animal fossils from the area, images of the crystals glowing in UV light and pictures of the beautiful sunsets that end a day of fossil hunting. You'll also find a lot of accompanying text on the area, the fossils and the fossil hunting experience.

This one location produced high quality animal fossils, beautiful preserved shells and golden Calcite crystals! Combinations of fossil and mineral are the rarest of finds and since the main part of the pit closed on March 26, 2006, all that remains is a prospecting area, the specimens rescued over the years and this book : )

Take a journey with me into the crystal mine.
