The exotic tastes of Sri Lanka, a tiny island in the Indian Ocean, have long been a mystery to the rest of the world, but S.H. Fernando Jr. promises to set the record straight in Rice & Curry: Sri Lankan Home Cooking.
Despite the depth and complexity of flavors derived from a mélange of spices, Fernando shows that Sri Lankan food, typically known as ‘rice & curry,’ is both quick and easy to prepare as well as a very healthy option for our modern lifestyle. His recipes preserve the folk cooking tradition of Sri Lanka as handed down to him by numerous family members and friends. You will learn to make scrumptious finger foods such as cutlets and patties; a variety of meat, fish, and vegetable dishes such as beef smore, fish-ambul thiyal (sour fish curry) and lentils in coconut milk, as well as chutneys, salads, rice dishes, breads, and a whole range of rich desserts such as coconut flan. You will also learn how to make your own curry powder blend, which will be useful in making many of the dishes in the book.
The original recipes are complemented by mouth-watering photography, numerous time-saving tips, menu suggestions, and a comprehensive spice guide, which will give you everything you need to know to prepare these delectable, exotic, and thoroughly unique dishes at home.

"A terrific introduction to a great culinary tradition about which egregiously little is known. Well researched, authentic and easy to follow recipes."

Skiz has also written, produced, and directed 3 feature films, 2 of which are music documentaries. An avid home chef, Skiz has long wanted to share the food of his homeland, Sri Lanka, with the world. Rice & Curry is his bid to make this spicy, exotic cuisine, the next big thing in food.
