About the Book
The photographs in this book were taken on an 11 day trek through Morocco from Jan 1 - Jan 12 , 2009 as we traveled by plane, train, boat, rental car, public bus, taxi, on foot and even camel back, the preferred mode of transportation in the Sahara.
Our journey began as we touched down in Casablanca on New Years day after an overnight flight from Tokyo by way of Paris. Upon arrival, we immediately made our way to Marrakech then onwards to Essaouira, Aït Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Merzouga, Meknes, Moulay Idriss, Fès, and Chefchaouen. Our journey ended with a hurried dash through Tangier to board a ferry to Algeciras, Spain where our Morocco adventure ended and our next European adventure began.
Throughout our journey we encountered many wonders and discoveries, but the sights, smells and clamor of daily life in the ancient medinas of Morocco's cities were both fascinating and unforgettable. The photographs in this book attempts to capture and share the essence of life in the medina. We hope that you enjoy this uniquely Moroccan visual experience as much as we did and share in the joys of discovery through the lens.
