In July 2008 I had the opportunity to travel to Ghana. The trip provided many new experiences I will not soon forget. However, what I remember most are the faces of the people I met. Most of the photos in this little book were taken in the lower Volta River region in Southeast Ghana. The people were among the most hospitable I've ever met. I hope you can see in these faces the human emotions we all experience--joy, sadness, contentment, hope, determination, pride, and more. Although our homes are separated by thousands of miles of land and ocean, we are alike in many ways. Each face in this essay of photos represents a person, a memory, and an encounter, however brief, with another human being not too different from me.
