About the Book
People see culture as an all-encompassing overview of large groups of individuals. However, culture can be described as the way of life of much smaller groups. The series of Think of Australia provides a unique perspective of observing Australian society and culture. To exaggerate reality to show a kind of absurd charm, these photographs are not ‘deliberate irony’, but simply to record a real life. ‘It is not so much a matter of the portrayal or representation of reality, but rather of an artistically well-grounded idea of the world.’ Based on theories support of Post-Colonialism, Binary Opposition and Orientalism, a new concept of Post-Orientalism should be illustrated in these photographs.
