About the Book
Identity! Nowadays there are so many ways in which we are defined by others or choose to define ourselves. One of the most interesting aspects of how we construct our identities, or have them constructed for us, is through uniforms.
In these photographs I have sought to pose questions. How far can a uniform, taken out of context, still define a person? Can an identity be sustained in spite of being decontextualised from our expectations of its normal setting? Without an audience and a traditional sense of place, what becomes of the roles we adopt?
