Hannah Smith Allen was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her work has been exhibited at venues such as the Griffin Museum of Photography, the Photographic Resource Center, the Photographic Center Northwest, and the Print Center. In 2007, she was one of six photographers awarded the Individual Photographer's Fellowship granted by the Aaron Siskind Foundation. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and teaches photography at Adelphi University.
