Tara Cochrane’s unique style incorporates elements of abstraction, fantasy, surrealism and comic book art. Her work is inspired in spirit and form by the German Expressionists, the Symbolist movement, ancient Indian and Persian art, and revolutionary artists such as Georgia O’Keefe and Jean-Michelle Basquiat. Her themes tend towards the magical and mythological. Primarily a painter, Tara also dabbles in a variety of other media such as collage and photography. Originating in North Central Florida, Tara now resides in beautiful Austin, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Florida State University in 2004, where she majored in Drawing and Painting with a minor in Art History. In addition to the visual arts, Tara is interested in literature, synthesizers, gardening and animals.
