About the Book
I have used a different technique here whereby I have rested the camera onto my chest to take photos. Or, I have simply pointed the camera to shoot - without looking through the lens at all.
This has improved the way I hold and connect with the camera, producing photos with movement, that are clearly not staged in any way.
I first noticed this technique being performed in NYC, on a photography course I was studying. Many found it an intrusive way of photopgraphing people. I feel it is all about capturing the 'now'.
I wanted to create a photobook of the city in a very different way to most. You will not see any Gaudi here. Simply streets and people.
About the Creator
My work is a journey through using my first SLR camera - Canon 400D. Prior to owning this I would take photographs of mainly architechture and landscapes. I am now drawn towards portraits, particulary trying to get to either know the subject - or not at all. No inbetween. I am fascinated making what may look like an ordinary everyday image into something quite extraordinary. I am using lyrical association with my books - as almost always I hear lyrics to particular songs to some of the images I take - hence the lyrics are sometimes displayed next to images. I have now purchased a Canon 5D MkII - and have a personal project -365 Days that is ongoing. I am also keen at creating photo books when I travel. My latest books will be of my journey to Kathmandu and Nepal to climb Everest Base Camp.
