The Artistic Portfolio of Hiatt Zhao

When asked by architecture schools to design and produce a portfolio as part of the application processes, I was not only interested in the artistic development of my work but I was also interested in my life and how I got here. As a result, this book is a testament of both my art and my life.

This portfolio includes the most important works of my life. Whether they may be Chinese watercolor, drawings, model airplanes, sculptures, 3D art, and photographs, they are evidences that I have always pursued art to the highest standards.

At the same time, I am also well versed in the language of science. Having majored in chemistry at the University of Rochester (NY), I was formally trained as chemist. As fortune turned its course I went back to the art field soon after graduation.

Now I am at a turning point again in my life. Sometimes I wonder where it will lead and will I succeed going down an unknown path. But like many things I've done so far, it is the moment that matters.

With that said, I hope the reader can enjoy my portfolio as much as I enjoyed making it.
