About the Book
The pastel paintings of Carole Chisholm Garvey, PSA, reflect her love of life, and an innate appreciation of the natural world. With a practiced eye and a refined sense of composition, she captures the varied expressions of the elements, conveying her own sense of discovery and wonder. Whether interpreting the glory of a sunrise, the stillness at the edge of a marsh in winter, the power of an ocean storm, the expanse of a rural pasture, or the warm joy of a summer day, each image conveys not only the beauty of the moment, but also a sense of the familiar. With an introduction by curator and art historian Cindy Nickerson, this collection brings together 100 of Carole Chisholm Garvey's paintings, including more than 80 landscapes and waterscapes, as well as still lifes, portraits, studies and line drawings. Carole Chisholm Garvey has been designated a Copley Artist with The Copley Society, received a PSA designation with the Pastel Society of America, is a Distinguished Artist at the Concord Art Association, and a Signature Member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. Her work has been honored at national and international exhibitions, including the Pastel Society of America's annual juried exhibition (2012 President's Award) and the 2014 juried exhibition of the International Association of Pastel Societies (Gold Award).
