The Galápagos Islands have been isolated from the mainland of Ecuador for millions of years and are home to some of the most unusual species and varied landscapes in the world. Because of this, they were one of the first locations to be deemed a World Heritage Site. However, the Galápagos were recently placed on the World Heritage in Danger list. Due to an expanding human population, intrusion of invasive species, illegal fishing, and careless tourism, the islands' pristine environment has become increasingly threatened.

Through my photography, I have tried to highlight the diverse wildlife and landscapes of the archipelago and include the people and culture of the islands. Even though this book provides just a glimpse at this amazing environment, I hope that it engenders in the reader an appreciation for these unique islands and how crucial it is that we protect and preserve them.

I have this book and am amazed at the great layout and flow which emphasizes the beauty of the photography. On the bicentennial of Darwin's birth, this would be a great gift to celebrate the amazing diversity of the earth.
