The photo-play “THE AMPUTEES” tells the fascinating story of Peter Henry, a young photographer whom after surviving a suicide attempt, finds himself more alone and disconnected from the world then ever before. Instinctively, Peter begins a process of emotional/internal reconstruction through the images he creates. First, he pieces together his x-rays taken at the hospital to make a full body x-ray image of himself. Later, taking pictures of amputees. With the picture of an armless man, for example, Peter photographs his own arm and connects them together creating a “complete” human being. His hybrid creatures help him find a place where he can finally “fit in”. The story escalates into a surprising finale when he meets Valentine, a deaf and dumb, nymphomaniac. “The Amputees” tells the dramatic and poetic journey throughout the process of loss., which turns us into emotional amputees and at the same time it’s what connects us to each other.
