About the Book
In this book, Russ Martin presents his unique views of the common landscape plant, the hosta. Inspired by Paul Caponigro's year-long study of the sunflower, Martin depicts them from early spring to late fall. However, these are not simply documents of a plant. Possessing a background in the arts, Mr. Martin creates unique images, elevating the ordinary to the special . Our eyes are opened anew, and we realize we should take more time to appreciate the little things in life.
Russ Martin received a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography in 1974. He went on to become a photography educator, teaching on both the college and secondary levels for 30 years. Now retired, he is devoting himself entirely to his art. His work has been featured in numerous magazines and has won awards in the US and Europe.
