About the Creator
Sarah Beltz will graduate in 2010 from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts. In the summer of 2008, Beltz traveled to China as part of the Pennsylvania State System of Education Honors Study Aboard Program. During the trip, Beltz visited the Shandong Province, Beijing, the Yunnan Province, and Shanghai. After returning to the United States from China, Beltz began to conduct interviews and gather research to create the book, I Celebrate Chinese New Year. The book was one component of a larger honors independent study project designed to create and evaluate educational resources to teach Elementary students about China and Chinese culture. Beltz will present this project at the 2009 National Collegiate Honors Conference in Washington D.C. Beltz hopes to one day share her project and I Celebrate Chinese New Year with other elementary teachers the students in her own classroom.
