About the Author
Paul Alexander Knox Om-Shanti
Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England
Paul was born in Sunderland, England. During a year spent in Southern Asia, Paul was struck by the splendour and poverty of the developing world. He wanted to record these scenes to show people the world as he saw it in the hope that the images could encourage a shift in awareness, that they could bring about change. This was the beginnings of his photographic career.
Through the following years his objective remains the same but his focus has shifted to issues closer to home with the aim to document the changing social structure of the North East of England. Paul has worked on several long term projects, working closely with his subjects in order to gain a greater understanding and awareness.
Paul’s work has been published in several magazines including the Sunday Times Magazine. He has won several awards including Shots Young Photographer of the Year, AOP Student Photographer of the Year (Finalist), and a prestigious 2nd place and two Honourable Mentions in the I.P.A.
