‘Miss Aniela creates… a dramatic theatre… a surreal looking-glass world of distorted perspectives and dream-enhanced colours’ (PHOTOICON)

This book (7 x 7", square) features nearly 100 multiplicity images, along with a detailed 6-page introduction. For those interested in the technique, the book also has a 6-page 'How to' section describing how to do the cloning technique. These pages also advise on hints and tips for further creative retouching, complete with breakdowns showing the processing stages of example images.

---------------

"Multiplicity began for me as an exercise in composition, about seeing a pattern emerge within the frame, about creating a scene full of colour and life. Using oneself as a model was an way to create photography with complete independence. By multiplying oneself, you can be more than one character into the frame, single-handedly conducting a symphony of figures over which you command all the control!

"I have always been in two minds (so to speak) about putting together an exhibition, book or any other kind of display of my work that focuses purely on ‘clone’ images. Up to now, I tried to avoid putting attention on the process itself, so that it understood rightly for what it is: a technique, like any other, that needs to be used imaginatively to constitute good and interesting photography. However, I have found that when displaying my work on the internet, providing a set or category of images that shows the ‘multiplicity’ images has become a necessity because of the specific interest that viewers have shown in these images, and also because they visually go so well together. I decided I wanted to take that aesthetically-pleasing tapestry of multiplied figures that appears in my web browser, and package it with a ribbon for people to own physically.

"In my first self-published book 'Self-gazing', it felt correct to select the most popular images that I have produced and put them together as a collection. Only what I considered the best of my early multiplicity was included in the book, as it aimed to provide an overview to all the various styles and moods I have approached in my self portraits up to a certain date. This book displays the full story that ‘Self gazing’ would never dare to divulge. A world of fictional multiples and their iridescent, multi-faceted narratives weave an exciting, seemingly never-ending, visual adventure of over 100 pages, owning their own space in which to run havoc and to hopefully delight and inspire."
