James Christopher Hill was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1966. After working as an artist in the early 80’s, James received formal training at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. In 1998, he graduated with honors with a BA in Computer Animation; a field that focused mainly on drawing and painting skills. His senior thesis "Jataka" took home the Gold Oscar in the category of Best Student Computer Animation in 1998. Afterwards, using his new skills, he returned to his love of painting. James has a large number of private and commercial collectors including corporations, restaurants, hospitals and museums. He has been profiled on talk shows, newspapers and magazines and has won numerous art and animation awards. His work explores the use of color and rhythm to create images that seek to bring a particular mood or emotion by invoking a memory that is meaningful to the viewer.
