About the Book
Introduction:
This book documents the first chapter of the project Invisible Soundscapes.
The purpose of this project is to study the wild, uncontrollable nature of sound which constantly evolves and escapes.
Invisible Soundscapes consists of a series of explorations which involve sending microphones away on systems that will travel to unknown locations.
In this chapter, which includes five explorations, the microphones are attached to helium balloons and are listened to using recycled circuits transformed into FM transmitters.
The five explorations were recorded and can be found on the compact disc that comes with this book.

About the Creator
Antoine Bertin
Paris, London.
Antoine Bertin’s most recent projects are attempts to approach out of reach spaces and the realm of fascination, focusing on the movements of sounds and the evolution of soundscapes. His creative process is based on physically engaged explorations during which material is gathered with the intention of elaborating narratives in the form of installations, performances, books or radio pieces. His approach is inspired by the lightness of sound, its uncontrollable aspect and inevitable site-specificity, combined with an interest for technology and the way the sonic matter is often fetishized.
