Generations

Two years ago we elected to collectively work on a themed project. We would each do independent work, following our individual motifs, but with a common, underlying idea. We chose to explore the generations of life, from youth to advanced age. Along the way we learned that not everyone is motivated by working on an imposed theme. Those who continued to work on the project learned that profound creative energy is released when it is focused and funneled through imposed limitations. The challenge in such projects is to find a way to connect the larger theme with personal interests and ideas. The artists whose work is included in this exhibit were able to make that connection. The result is a powerful exhibit that emerges from highly original and independent sensibilities, and yet is sustained by a deep and intertwining resonance.
