About the Book
Lori Stotko has amused and amazed her friends throughout her life with her ability to draw what’s on her mind at any given time on any given surface. We put her talent to the test by handing her a flashlight and turning out the lights.
Light Doodling creates a photo of an object that does not exist in the material world. It captures what we observe as a moving light source and displays it in a photo as a fully recognizable form. It is now a snapshot of the fleeting imagination of the artist, a unique improvisational performance not unlike the recording of a jazz musician and can never be exactly reproduced.
With the exception of two, the drawings in this book were performed freehand in mid-air using LED flashlights and captured in one long exposure photograph. More drawings and a more detailed explanation can be found on our web site, lightdoodles.com.
