Winter Landscapes

Click to preview book

When the giant Ravenscraig Steelworks was closed and dismantled in 1992 there came into being one of 'the largest brown field sites in Europe'.

These monochrome landscape photographs were made in a few short winter days in 1999, at the end of yet another century. Although there are hints of the former industrial site there are also resonances with other times and places, with another world. Indeed the exhibiton of a larger body of work shown in Motherwell Heritage Centre in 2003 and in Street Level Photoworks in 2004, was entitled 'Another World'.
