About the Ebook
This is not a guide book, rather it is a sampler of an area of Italy, north of Rome and south of Siena, that is curiously unfamiliar to the traveller and tourist, Tuscia. The Etruscans founded their civilisation here 900 BC then the Romans came; they called this land Etruria which eventually became corrupted into Tuscia and later still Tuscany although this latter now refers exclusively to the Italian region. Tuscia describes the area north of Rome that was once the Etruscan heartland and which is made up of three modern regions: Southern Tuscany, a corner of Umbria and Northern Latium. Tuscia has at its centre Lake Bolsena, to the West is the Tyrrhenian coast from whence came the Etruscans, to the East the river Tiber near which lies Orvieto, the modern gateway to Tuscia by train and autostrada.
The photographs in this book show some of the wonders of an area unjustly neglected.
