Blurb, the creative publishing and marketing platform, today announced the launch of “Ian Fisher: American Soldier” which features the 2010 Pulitzer Prize winning photography of Craig F. Walker. The 106-page book chronicles Ian Fisher’s recruitment, induction, training, year-long deployment to Iraq and, finally, his return from combat. The book is a collaborative effort by a group of Denver Post reporters and includes more than 100 photographs captured by Walker.
Blurb, the creative publishing and marketing platform, today announced a partnership with Scribd, the world’s largest social publishing and reading site. Scribd’s users can now easily and affordably turn their written and illustrated works on the site into professional quality books using Blurb. The partnership leverages Blurb’s API to instantly convert content uploaded to Scribd into book form, meaning consumers can complete an order for a book within minutes.
Photography Book Now 2010 is now open for entries. Now in its third year, this international-juried competition, presented by Blurb, celebrates the very best in self-published photography books and the photographers behind them. The competition features a grand prize of $25,000. Entries will be accepted in three categories – Fine Art, Editorial, and Photography Portfolio. The finalists’ books in each category will become part of the permanent collections at the International Center of Photography, the Annenberg Space for Photography and the George Eastman House.
Blurb today announced the addition of two senior executives to its management team. Jim Taschetta has joined Blurb as Chief Marketing Officer and Mark Lambert has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer.
Blurb today reported record growth in 2009 as consumers and creative professionals worldwide turned to Blurb as their preferred publishing platform to create, publish, share and sell professional-quality books. The company, which is profitable, achieved more than 50% year-over-year revenue growth with 2009 sales of more than $45 million. Blurb created and shipped more than 1.2 million books in 2009 – more volume than the company had shipped in total since its launch in 2006.
