My Bio Fred Mayer: Photographer, Journalist, Artist, Publisher- is a Storyteller with a Camera. Fred Mayer is well known for his exellent photography- produced in his discrete and professional manner. Reportages and Books worldwide. Fred Mayer was born in 1933 in Lucerne, He attended school, a three year apprenticeship with the master photographer Otto Pfeifer in Lucerne. 1950 Moves to Zurich where he works as a photographer for more than six years for international press agencies -ATP, DPA, AFP and UPI. 1956 Marriage with the Keystone photographer Ilse Günther. 1956 Independent photographer for Swiss press publications „Neue Zürcher Zeitung“, „Sie und Er“, -“Schweizer Illustrierte“ and „Die Woche“. 1957 Birth of his daughter Sibyll who is now editor in chief of a food and interior magazine. 1965 First assignment from Magnum Photos in Paris, for Paris Match, The Observer about President Sukarno of Indonesia. see: fred-mayer.eu

Dear Ilse and Fred,
Well I went slowly through the book pages from cover to cover, and you certainly did an enormous undertaking.As I knew Will McBride’s coverage having edited all his archives for Focus…yours is a beautiful subject and one depends a lot on the narration of the story. You have visually “re-lived” the subject by stylistically having people “pose” into beautiful compositions in the manner that the text from what I remember reading the book is equally beautiful and inspiring.
