Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, Alana Bergstrom moved throughout the Mid-West. She received her Master of Fine Arts and Certificate Teaching of Art at the Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014. In 2007 Bergstrom received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art. Alana Bergstrom showed in Baltimore and Rockville, regionally in Northampton, Amherst and Boston, as well as in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Bergstrom received a commission in the U.S. Army through the Green to Gold Active Duty Option Program at Johns Hopkins University ROTC Program in 2014. She commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery officer. Bergstrom enlisted in the Army in 2009. As a Sergeant in the Military Police Corps, she deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom ’11-’12.
