First Australians—Postcards from a Journey relates some of the experiences, often heartbreaking, forced on the people of a largely peaceful culture and an ancient land by the arrival of European settlers.
Each poem and accompanying illustration depicts a point in the journey travelled through time by Indigenous Australians. As this journey progresses however, it becomes increasingly clear there is a destination involved—one that will not only close the gap of inequality between black and white Australians, but will indeed change the way all Australians journey into the future!
Narrated from several different perspectives and voiced in a modern context by Andy Ford and illustrated surrealistically by Jason Devonshire, the result is a unique series of snapshots from the journey of First Australians over the last 225 years.
