Sue Cowan is a published author and retired English teacher. She is married to Stephen Cowan, one of Samuel's great-great grandsons. They currently count five children, three in-laws, and four grandchildren among their descendants.


Crista Cowan - Sue's daughter and a 3rd great-granddaughter of Samuel - is a professional genealogist who frequently writes and lectures on family history. She currently lives in Utah County in the valley Samuel helped to found.
