About My Business “Tibi ipsi esto fidelis – to thine own self be true". This challenging lifetime mantra impacts my images, creating complexity and authenticity. Photography is the food on which I feast; it nurtures my creative soul. It is my raison d"etre.

Genetically I've been blessed with artistic genes. The greatest influence upon my photography was my time spent in The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. As a young girl, I attended a boarding school which had mandatory walks even during freezing-cold blizzards! Many afternoons were spent absorbing the works of Rembrandt,The Impressionists,Turner,Van Gogh,The Group of Seven and Emily Carr. Powerful composition drew the viewer magnetically into the painting; the subtleties or dramatic lighting created mood be it stormy or mystical. Turner and Van Gogh's passionate use of vivid colours still infuse and inspire me. "Bodacious Burano" is born out of that fire. I become emerged, elated and energized in the joy and power of primary colours.

Things I Don't Mind The World Knowing

Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about...
Not thinking....know for certain that my next book will be about the resurgence of Cuba and the irrepressible spirit of it's people.

Don't expect to spend much time at the tourist beaches but I will invite you to one or two where the locals spend their Saturday or Sunday picnicking and relaxing with their families.
Everyone needs to know about these authors and artists...
It was 1953 when I first picked up my father's camera. It was a twin reflex Ciroflex. I was eight years old. There wasn't any one to show me how to work the camera as my father had died two years before. He left behind some poignant images that became my inspiration. Bottom line is that I am self -taught.

My childhood dream was to become a NG photographer. I'd sit on the neighbor's back porch swing, eyes popping, mouth agape, broadening my horizons, determined to travel the world.
This book is addictive. Read it. (At your own risk.)
Well not addictive but hopefully inspiring enough that you will put Cuba on your bucket list!

After spending a total of 33 days getting to know Cubans it was a tearful farewell leaving our dear friend and driver Rey.
