Hugh Ash is a former senior editor on several top UK daily papers, whose work has taken him to Canada, the USA, the Caribbean and throughout Europe.
He now spend his days as a freelance journalist, covering Spain's enchanting Balearic Islands for the international English-language media ("It's a tough assignment, but someone's got to do it," he says with a wry grin).
So, hence The Mallorca Assignment - Hugh's first thriller, which explores the mindset of international terrorists and the various agencies of law and often disorder, employed to hunt them down.
Set against the brilliant backdrop of his island in the sun, with its unique heritage, chequered past and fascinating culture, the story is designed to give readers a glimpse into Mallorca's rich tapestry of history and stunning geography, as well as tantalising them with a gripping tale of bloody intrigue and double-dealing.
|Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about...|
Following The Mallorca Assignment's success, Hugh is working on a sequel - The Mallorca Correspondent - once again featuring Inspector Mercedes Ibanez, not for nothing nicknamed La Condesa (The Countess) by those who fear and revere her.
This see her matched with ex-jailbird newsman Nick Travis, who stumbles on a blackmail plot to steal the West's cyber warfare secrets. But can the the abrasive Ibanez stop the wayward reporter causing an international outcry by revealing all. Watch this space..
