My next book will most likely be about the people of the midwest. I love candid shots of people in their natural evironment....doing what they naturally do! Working ,playing and just living life. I'm not a huge fan of studio portraiture although it can be beautifully done. It just always seems posed and unreal to me.
I also want to include stories of people's family history....grandpa's Dandelion Wine recipe, tales from teachers, policemen, politicians from the past....etc. |

Every photographer and lover of photography should know about Robert Frank! Although raked over the coals by critics...I find Frank's photos to be full of character and emotion. No..he didn't get always get the horizon line straight and sometimes the photos were a bit out of focus...but the real content.....life in the 1950's and 60's is abundantly clear. I love the people in Frank's photographs...they aren't the classic portrait of beautiful people...but they are beautiful ...and they are us. |
