Idell has traveled extensively in SE Asia and the Pacific photographing remote indigenous people, their children and habitats. Scuba diving extended her reach to remote oceans which nurture the boat people known as the sea gypsies. She presented this study of work at Hunter College in Jan 2007, sponsored by Society of Woman Geographers and recently exhibited at their headquarters on Capitol Hill in DC. Her underwater work has been developed into a fine art collection, images of which have been displayed in many office building of Paramount Group at 1633 Broadway. Currently, a major exhibit of her work “Undersea Oasis: Coral Reef Communities” is installed at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC through Jan 13, 2008. Yet another underwater exhibit opens soon and runs through Jan 7, 2008 at Brazos Valley Museum in Bryan, TX, followed by an exhibition at NM Museum of Natural History in Albuquerque, opening in Jan of 2008. Idell's working studio is in Manhattan, her heart in NM.
