JR developed his skills from being self taught and attending F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology), ICP (International Center of Photography) and Photo Manhattan.

He has attended numerous seminars and workshops for photography, lighting and Adobe Photoshop.

JR Shot You Photography is proudly owned by JR Burriss which was trademarked in 2005.

JR Burriss passed on his knowledge and skills to other hobbyist, semi pro photographers and beginners.

He is also a MUA (MakeUp Artist). He attended Lia Schorr Day Spa to study makeup and has been certified by Lia Schorr for makeup.
