About

Jean Arnold's paintings and drawings are extracted from the experience of mobility—its visual bombardment and its alteration of spatial perceptions. She rides buses around cities while notationally recording sights, thoughts, and experiences.

Arnold lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, and enjoys a full-time career as an artist. She has exhibited in many solo and group shows, regionally and nationally. In 2008, she had a solo museum exhibit at the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana. Her work is in numerous public, corporate, and private collections. Arnold has received the 2002 Utah Arts Council Visual Arts Fellowship Award. She earned an MFA from Johnson State College in Vermont in 1999. She is represented by LewAllen Contemporary in Santa Fe, Plus Gallery in Denver, and Phillips Gallery in Salt Lake.

Arnold is also an activist in the realm of energy issues and co-founded a group called Post Carbon Salt Lake.
