| My Bio |
I have been taking photographs since I was about 9 or 10. My interest is in Landscape and Street Photography. In Landscape, I am most interested in the particular, rather than sweeping vistas. I am also deeply interested in the idea of landscape as colour, shape, pattern rather than a collection of Man-labelled objects. In Street Photography, I tend towards the ludic: people doing silly things, people caught off guard, people showing their character by accident, the mask slipping. I am not formally trained as a photographer. I read English at Lincoln College Oxford and took a special interest in writing on landscape and on aesthetics. So I had some ideas what I wanted to achieve with photography, but had to do a lot (I mean a lot) of practice to get the result... and I am still very much engaged in that search. I live in the Cotswolds, but travel very widely, which creates enormous opportunities. . |
| Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about... |
| I am working on two projects. One is 'High Summer at the Vierwaldstättersee" a record of central Switzerland, one of the loveliest places on earth. I am also working on a book on China. I have lots of interesting images from Shanghai, Hong Kong, Gundzhou and of course Bejing but I am not sure exactly where this book will start and end. China is so vast! I need to think a bit about this one. Meantime, I keep taking photos... the answer will come in time! |
