My Bio Born in St. Louis, MO, but moved to Memphis when I was 18 months old. Moved to Walnut Creek, CA, when I was 12. Consider Memphis and Walnut Creek as my home towns. I met my wife the week before classes started my freshman year at Humboldt State and we were married during Spring break our junior year. I have lived in 10 states and have visited 49, still need to get to South Dakota.

Photography is just one of many interests that I have or have had. Others include: cycling, cooking, brewing beer, and roasting coffee (I think there is a bit of a theme in those last few. I am also a rail fan.

Photography is strictly a hobby. I did my first wedding January 1, 2011. While I would like to get a few paying assignments (mad money for more gear) I want photography to always be fun.

At the end of 2009 I did set up a website, just in case I got more serious with my photography; http://www.laveenphotography.com.

Things I Don't Mind The World Knowing

Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about...
Photography, what else. I want my next book to be more focused; a single topic. Well, after I wrote this section I finally published another book, and it was focused. Focused on a friend. These other ideas are yet to come. Some possible topics: 100 Strangers, Doors, Churches, Route 66, or maybe Downtown Phoenix. I am open to suggestions.
Everyone needs to know about these authors and artists...
Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Diane Arbus, A. W. Erickson (my wifes great grandfather and photographer in northern California in the late 1800s and early 1900s).

There are many others and as I think of them I will add them.
