I'm a young artist working in Stoke on Trent, looking to make a name for myself. My work predominantly involves the city around me, and I am fascinated by the various ways Stoke and it's rich history can be interpreted in various projects and styles.
Primarily a painter, I have recently begun investigating how to best market myself, and Blurb books seem like the ideal method of doing so.
Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about...
A collection of various paintings and sketchbook pages that are not part of my work about Stoke on Trent, which can be expected toward the end of January. In June, I'm expecting to have my latest project, Future City, finished, and that, alongside a second volume detailing it's creation, will be published then.
Everyone needs to know about these authors and artists...
Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, Brian K Vaughan, Alan Moore. As a comic book fan, my tastes have begun to expand massively over the past couple of years, but these writers, firmly embroiled in superheroes and new ways to explore the concept, are amongst my favourites.
Jackson Pollock is my absolute, all-time favourite artist, but I also enjoy Mondrian, Patrick Caulfield, Roy Lichtenstein and numerous others. Outside of 'fine art', my favourite comic-book artist is Ashley Wood.
This book is addictive. Read it. (At your own risk.)
Ashley Wood's Popbot, World War Robot, Doomed, Metal Gear Solid, and Tank Girl. Basically, anything by him has to be in my collection. I'd start off with his work on Popbot, or maybe Tank Girl. The latter's more fun, and is availible in a swanky little volume at any good bookstore.
