Dana E. Phillips (A.B. Women’s Studies, Minor in Human Development and Family Sciences, Interdisciplinary Writing Certificate, UGA)
I began my college career in the fall of 1997 at DeKalb Community College as an Art major, through several major changes and life events I ended up at the University of Georgia in the fall of 2011 to pursue a degree in Women’s Studies. The main focus of my research has been on how race, class, and gender influence the identity development process in adolescents and women. I have also focused my efforts on activism work and consumer advocacy. Through all of this, my love of writing has remained constant and I have felt the empowering nature of accomplishing a personal goal. Seventeen years later, I can finally close the door on my Undergraduate degree and look forward to furthering my academic pursuits.
