Ponyta bought a pink plastic banana board when she was twelve and proceeded to teach herself how to do tic tacs. She modified that skateboard until only the original trucks were left and eventually sold it in a garage sale. She skated on a pool board in the eighties when skateboarding was just about as hip as playing with a hoola-hoop. Inspired by the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, Ponyta eventually purchased a new-school deck. Two kick tails, eh? and her love of skating was renewed. Upon seeing people whizzing by on longer decks, Ponyta found a used longboard on Craigslist and fell in love with the bigger, softer wheels. By chance, she met up with like-minded individuals on the Ontario Longboarding Forum where she started to invite skaters to The Super Mellow Beach Cruise sessions. Now it's all does via Facebook, of course. Ponyta loves to skate. It's been over thirty years...
